Love is in the air and you could be too by whisking your partner abroad on a loved-up Valentine’s weekend city break. There are literally dozens of romantic destinations all within two hours flight time of Blighty, each one sure to put a smile on your partner’s face and a fuzzy feeling in their heart.
So go on, show your other half just how much you really lurve them by booking a late break now.
Paris Match
France’s capital is also the capital city of romance and there’s no better place to spend an evening strolling hand in hand. It may not be ‘Paris au printemps’ but Paris in late winter can also be a pretty stunning place to spend a weekend, especially for Valentine’s.
Lastminute.com is currently offering three nights at the three star Champerret-Elysees hotel for £269 per person. Price includes a free bottle of champagne at the hotel and return British Airways flights from Heathrow, which is particularly nice for Londoners wishing to swap the City of Congestion Charges for the City of Lights.
Plus if you’re quick it’s possible to get two tickets to Paris – or indeed any other Eurostar destination – for just £90. And the journey will only take two and a quarter hours from St Pancras! Click here to find out more.

A Kiss in Krakow
If you haven’t been to this surprisingly lovely Polish city, do so now before the stag and hen night crowd stomp all the romance out of it. Krakow’s heart is a delightfully walkable old town that nowadays feels more bohemian than its Czech neighbour, Prague. It’s affordable too, with a glass of wine/pint costing around £1.40 and evening meals in a romantic cellar setting from about a fiver a head.
Ryanair currently has Stanstead to Krakow return flights for £49.98 leaving on the 14th February and returning on the 17th. You can also book a bargain hotel from Confused.com’s partner site hotelcomparisons.com. Room rates at the very centrally located three star Classic Hotel currently cost just £125 for the three nights.
Dewey Eyed in Dublin
Grab your loved one and make your way over to Ireland’s lyrical, lively and plain-old lovely capital city, Dublin. A short hop over the Irish Sea will soon have you partying your heart away whilst soaking up the traditional Irish Hospitality, good food and entertainment.
OK, admittedly, you’d need the luck of the Irish for the following flights to still be available by the time you read this but, at the time of writing, Edinburgh to Dublin flights with Ryanair for the 14th–17th February cost just 0.01p each way! Now if that’s not cheap enough to get you riverdancing up and down the airplane aisle then what is?
For a place to stay, Confused.com’s partner site hotelcomparisons.com can room you and a partner at the characterfull two star Portobello Hotel – overlooking the Grand Canal – for £211.

Valencian Valentine
Valencia is fast emerging from the shadows of Barcelona, Madrid and Palma to become the Spanish city break destination. The mild climate is a given, but it also has an historic old town (the place to drink in the evening), the stunning Calatrava-designed City of Arts and Sciences (an absolute ‘must see’), plus countless cafes in which to enjoy the world famous local dish – paella.
For £299 per person, Lastminute.com can set you up for three nights at the stylish and modern four star Confortel Aqua 4, right next to the aforementioned Palace of Arts. Price includes return flights from Heathrow travelling with Iberia.
Queasy Jet
Fancy taking to the air this Valentine’s but don’t have the time to venture abroad?
If so, Red Letter Days can put your head in the clouds for a short-but-thrilling airborne experience. Prices begin at £85 for a flight in a microlight aircraft, or £99 for a trip in a light aircraft or glider.
The more adventurous can ‘enjoy’ stomach churning acrobatic flights from £125, or you can live out your Tom Cruise fantasy with a Top Gun Aerobatics for two experience for £850. Remember – nothing says “I love you” like a terror-inducing, pant-wetting flight of peril!
Get Packing
So if you’ve been inspired to romance your better half away on an unforgettable Valentine’s treat, then get packing. And don’t forget to send Confused.com a postcard from your chosen destination – that is, of course, unless you lovebirds are otherwise engaged.
